SUMMARY:LTCC Business Connector - February - Networking in a "Swipe-Right World"
DESCRIPTION:TOPIC\n\nNetworking in a "Swipe-Right World"\n\n \n\nBRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PRESENTATION\n\n Nearly all of the activities that most entrepreneurs call networking lack true intention and are mostly\, therefore\, ineffective. That lack of effectiveness is heightened by the Tinder-era nature of our modern world. We rarely get a second chance to establish a productive business relationship once someone has "swiped left" on us. Greg will share with us some strategies for overcoming the swipe\, as well as some old-school tools he has utilized over the last 12 years that have enabled him to grow his business by over 270% during that time period mainly from effective networking. In addition to hearing about his ideas\, all participants will get the opportunity to test some of them out in the meeting!\n\n\n\nAbout our presenter\, Greg Morrison.\n\n\n\n Greg Morrison is the principal in the Morrison Law Firm\, a family law boutique in Westlake where he has officed over 12 years now. He has been practicing law for over 29 years now\, first in Houston and now for over 17 years in Austin. His practice is primarily in Travis\, Williamson and Hays Counties and includes representation of both men and women in a wide range of family law situations including divorces\, modifications of existing orders\, enforcement actions\, pre- and post-nuptial agreements\, child support and child custody cases. He has a reputation as a very zealous advocate for his clients and a bulldog in the courtroom. \n\n In addition to practicing law\, Greg oversees over 17 chapters of BNI here in the Austin area as an Area Director. He is in the process of opening a not-yet named masterminding group that will help budding entrepreneurs who have not yet hit the $5 million mark in gross revenue find their way down that path\, guiding participants to learn from one another how to reach their current goals\, set higher ones\, and reach those as well. Before the first group launches\, Greg has already received an offer to franchise this new business in the Memphis area. Watch for more details on that venture.\n\n Greg is a former two-term Chair of the Westlake Chamber. While the Chair there\, that Chamber grew by about 50% and became known as one of the premier networking groups in the Austin area. Before and after serving as the Chair for the Westlake Chamber\, Greg headed and served on the Networking Committee for that Chamber.\n\n Prior to becoming an attorney\, Greg taught high school\, worked as a restaurant manager and worked as a farm laborer. In the last of these roles\, he learned how to catch 8 chickens at a time with his bare-hands\, all to make about $10/hour doing it! \n\n When asked something few people would know about him\, Greg replied that he had had the privilege of performing on both the Bass and Paramount stages here in Austin as well as singing on a Florida night club stage in Japanese!
